Don Williams

Don is a third-generation preacher, following in the footsteps of his grand-father J.E. Williams and his father Joe Williams of Northport, AL. He graduated from FHU in 1979 and received his Masters in Ministry from Harding Graduate School of Religion in 1984.

After 30 years in Ministry, Don has worked for the last two years as the Executive Director of the North Alabama Christian Children’s Home.

For 18 years, he has taught an area grief support class. Some 500+ people have benefited from these classes. In addition, he has spoken on various facets of grief to preachers, nurses, Chaplains, and health care professionals. He is a Palliative Care chaplain with E.C.M. Hospital, and a Volunteer Fire Chaplain and Police Chaplain for the Sheriff’s Department of Lauderdale County.

In 1996, he and his twin brother Ron wrote a grief book entitled Walking with Those who Weep-A Guide to Grief Support. In October of 1999, Don completed a second book on grief that serves as a sequel to the other one. It is entitled Hope For Those Who Struggle-Coping with the losses of Life. This book is in its third printing.

In April of 2000, Don completed a four-year certificate of completion in the field of Thanatology (the study of death) from the University of Alabama College of Continuing Studies.

Don is married to his wife Leisa for 32 years and she is a high school math teacher in Sheffield. They have 2 sons, Matt and Ben. Matt is married to the former Amanda Savage, and they have a four-year-old son named Braden, and a two-year-old daughter named Kenzlee. Ben is married to the former Hailey Tate. Don enjoys tennis, basketball, and yard work. He is a big Alabama football fan.
